Black Monday Severe Vulnerability in All Wi-Fi Devices

Black Monday

We’re sure you have all heard about Cyber Monday. It’s that one day a year, the Monday after the Thanksgiving Weekend of wild shopping deals, where retailers have their best online sales of the year. Well today is BLACK MONDAY and it’s a BIG sale day of a different type.

Why? Because today researchers found a security vulnerability that impacts ALL Wi-Fi Devices. And when they say all, they mean all! And guess what might be going on sale? Yep, everything you do online might soon be going on sale. If you thought the Equifax hack was big, this just might be bigger.

How Big Of A Deal Is This?

Well if you consider that just about every device the average individual now uses to connect to the Internet (e.g. Router, Computer, Cellphone, Tablet, Home Thermostats, etc. etc. etc.) is vulnerable to this hack, then you get the picture. It’s a BIG deal.

The Wi-Fi vulnerability that was discovered today is being called “KRACK”, which is short for Key Reinstallation Attacks. Technically speaking the vulnerability allows attackers to decrypt WPA2 connections, which is more or less the de facto way of securing wireless connections today. Again it’s a BIG deal.

How big? Considering everything from a simple Google search to Online Banking transactions are protected by secure HTTPS connections, which can now be backed using this “KRACK” attack, yeah it’s a BIG deal.

Pubic Service Announcement

For more details about this attack and a video that shows how it can be exploited you can check out a Wordfence PSA released by earlier today. If you’re not familiar with Wordfence, they are a WordPress Plug-in vendor that, if you use WordPress, you should get to know really quickly. We’ve been using them for a long time now and theirs is the first plugin we install on any WordPress site that we install.

What Do I Do Now?

Right now you’re probably think about disconnecting all your devices and not going online ever again. Of course we all know that’s not a viable solution. However, you probably will want to be a little more careful over the next few days or weeks. As mentioned in the Wordfence PSA vendors are urgently accessing their systems and working on software patches to correct the vulnerability. NOTE: we did say SOFTWARE PATCHES!

As far as we all know right now this problem should be fixed with software downloads, which means over the next few days or weeks you are going to want to keep a close eye out for any software updates that your devices (e.g. Router, Computer, Cellphone, Tablet, Home Thermostats, etc. etc. etc.) push out to you. At this time it does not appear that you will be having to replace (a.k.a. BUY) anything new.

So the next time you see an UPDATE message appear on a device, please make sure you check it ASAP. If the update is related to this “KRACK” vulnerability, then you’ll want to apply the software patch immediately.

Can It Get Any Worse?

Apparently it can. Another vulnerability was also announced today. This one is going by the name of “ROCA” and involves an attack on public key encryption, which may weaken the way software is authenticate when it is installed.

Many systems rely on public/private key encryption and signing, and the ROCA vulnerability affects that process. Fixing this issue will also require you to update devices with vendor-released software updates, so keep an eye out for security updates for any devices and workstations that fix the ROCA related issues as well.

The combination of KRACK and ROCA is why today is being called “Black Monday.” Both of these vulnerabilities are very severe and aren’t we all lucky that the emerged on the same day.

Getting To Yes!

Getting to Yes 3 Key Reasons

Learn The 3 Key Reasons Why People Buy And How To Ensure That They Say YES To Your Products!

So you launched your business last week online and expected everyone coming to your site to buy, buy, buy the stuff your selling… but nope. As of today you still have no sales and you’re at a total lose as to why that is? Well we’re going to let you in on some key secrets about people’s buying habits and hopefully we can help you figure out the “why” as it’s related to your disappointing sales numbers.

Buying Habits

Before you can understand why people don’t buy, you need to understand why people do buy. And more importantly you need to understand that what motivates a person to buy something from their favorite clothing store is no different than what makes them want to buy something from their favorite restaurant, handyman store, or even their local deli.

Yep you read that right… buying habits are not motivated by the place one is buying from. Once you fully understand this concept, you’ll be able to exploit the powers of persuasion to skyrocket your sales. Now don’t worry, we’re not talking about a bunch of unfair “mind control” tactics here – we’re talking about proven buying “triggers” that help you deliver a powerful message to your visitors that converts them into buyers.

3 Key Reasons Why People Buy

There are three basic reasons why people buy something. The first is to make money; while the second is to save money; and the third is to alleviate pain and suffering. Now these may seam like simple reasons, but they really are more complicated than you might first think.

Take the first reason “making money” for example. To some making more money is just about surviving, which is probably not the best reason for starting a business. If you can’t pay your bills now, then starting a new business is just a guaranteed headache; unless of course you have an awesome business idea that you know can’t fail. Although everyone thinks that when they get started.

For others making more money is about having a little extra, so they don’t have to worry about paying the bills, or maybe going on that family vacation they’ve been putting off for a while. And still for others it might mean making enough money to expand their business or even fund another new business they want to get into. Each persons “why?” might be different, but the underlying, motivating factor that triggers the buying habit is the same.

When it comes to the second reason, if you’re product or service can help people save money, then you’ll definitely be satisfying another one of the key buying triggers. Most people love to save money and will quickly take advantage of your offer.

As for the final reason, alleviate pain and suffering, if you can do this, then you’re addressing the buying trigger of a group that is absolutely desperate for a solution, and sometimes any solution, to a problem that they are suffering from. This group will pay or do just about anything to find a solution to their problem, which is perfect for someone who can offer a “real” solution to them. Ethics are important here since these people are often truly desperate, so make sure you’re providing something “real” and not taking advantage of a situation that’s crying for help.

Getting To Yes

Now that you’re starting to understand buying habits and key reasons why people buy, the next step in the process of “Getting to Yes” is to understand what your buyers rally want and how to get into the minds of your buyers. The reason these concepts are so important for you to understand is that when you know your target audience, you then know how to create and deliver products for your target audience that will outsell and outperform your competition.

So… if you really want to understand all the activities need to convert visitors into buyers, then request your copy of our “Getting to Yes” gift giveaway report today. This One Thing Changed Everything

That Changed Everything!

Are you struggling to get traffic to your website?

Have you been told… if you build it… they will come?

Told that… if you build a good website and put out great content that people will start reading what you write?

So you go do it, right?

You create a good looking website. No… a GREAT looking website.

Then you start writing great stuff and putting it out there. One article, two articles, three articles. Ten articles and more. Next thing you know waves of traffic start coming… or so you thought.

Open Road No Traffic

Nothing. Nobody. Not even mom. It’s just one long empty road!

Where’s the traffic? Where are the visitors, the prospects, the customers? No one seems to be reading your content!!!

And you spent so much time and effort writing it!

What’s going on?!?

Well here’s the thing, a good website with GOOD content that is updated regularly will still take time to get found online. It could take months and even years depending upon how much you write, how good your content is, and how competitive your niche is.

Fortunately, for you, there’s one thing you can do to help get your site seen and more importantly, read!

SEO WhiteboardAnd yes, there are courses upon courses written about Search Engine Optimization or SEO, backlinking, domain age, website reputation, Social Media Strategy, and many more things to get your site noticed online.

Yet… there’s still one thing you can do that will quickly and easily get more visibility to your site than many of these other methods combined.

Do you know what that is? Well keep on reading and find out.

But first, a small disclaimer…

This one thing is not a miracle pill.

If you implement it properly, it can be an incredible tool and create an incredible boost in your traffic and reader engagement. And of course if you don’t implement it properly, it could make things worse. So make sure you use this powerful technique properly, because when you do you’ll be amazed with the results.

First, as we said earlier, it’s important to understand that there are many things that can increase traffic, engagement, and conversions on your website. Some of these things might include:

  1. Reputation of the author.
  2. Number and quality of incoming links.
  3. Age of the domain.
  4. Social media strategy.
  5. Originality and freshness of content.

All these things can factor into your website rankings and visibility of your post.

Yet… the one thing, the most effective thing you need to know in order to attract traffic in droves and increase engagement on your website is…

Drumroll please…

A powerful, client-attracting, attention-getting headline!

The 5 Second Rule – No 8

Studies show that you have less than 8 seconds to capture someone’s attention and get them to take further action! And only the right headline can do this and help get your site found online.

Goldfish Attention Span
Our Average Attention Span Is Now 8 Seconds –
1 Second Less Than A Goldfish
— National Center for Biotechnology Information at the U.S. National Library of Medicine

Yes, we know, we know what you’re thinking… well, an amazing picture can do the same thing. Especially sexy pictures, cute pictures, funny pictures, or just even outrageous, unbelievable pictures! And let’s not forget cute and funny cat pictures.

And yes… you’re right… pictures can definitely capture someone’s attention…

But… it’s a headline that will keep readers engaged, peak their interest, and get them to read further through your site. It’s the headline that will get them to take further action.

Journalists call them headlines; SEO Experts call them titles and headings; Email Marketers call them subject lines; Whatever you call it, they’re words that convey to your audience that your article, site, email, message, blog is something that they want… no they need… to read!

Your headline or title is often a reader’s first interaction with your brand, so it’s critically important to get it right. Not only so reader’s keep reading, but to convey the proper message to your audience. Copyblogger says that your headline is the single most important element of your message. So make sure you get it right!

Link Baiting

But beware… there’s a thing called improper link baiting though! Link bait is any content or feature on a website created for the purpose of gaining attention or encouraging others to link to or share a website or post. It becomes improper when the quality of the content being linked to is rather poor, or when your content doesn’t really match the headline that brought people to your content.

While this sounds like it’s a good strategy, Facebook is cracking down on it when it’s not done right, the improper type. Therefore, it is important that the headline or title actually relates to the content you’re writing and isn’t there just to get people to read something. So don’t make your headline sound like it’s spam, and don’t point to really poor content either.

Powerful Headlines Elicit Emotional Responses

You Had Me At HelloA powerful headline has to elicit an emotional response from the reader. It’s got to pique interest, create shock, awe, surprise. It’s got to muster a person’s curiosity. It’s got to motivate the person to keep on reading further.

Having the right headline can make the difference between getting read and getting forgotten. So focusing on having powerful headlines to attract reader’s attention will result in greater engagement, higher conversions, and of course, more sales.

Mobile Responsive Design Testing

Mobile Responsive Design Testing Tool

In order to help you determine how mobile-friendly your site is we’ve rolled out a mobile responsive design testing tool. The tool lets you see how your site design looks on different devices – from mobile phones and tablets, to different web browser window sizes.

The tool is really easy to use. Just enter the URL of a site whose mobile responsive design you want to test and then select one of two options: Width only or Device sizes.

Selecting the width only option will keep the height of all test areas the same, while the device sizes option will adjust the height of the test areas to more closely reflect the height of the device the test represents.

There’s no limit to the number of sites you can test, just keep entering in URL’s that you want to test. By the way, your site should fully function in each of our testing windows, so feel free to scroll around and check things out.

By the way, if you’re not sure why your site needs a responsive design, you might want to checkout our post Mobilegeddon: Google Mobile Friendly Update Arrives.
